The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, on Thursday held talks with Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto on the sidelines of the COMESA Summit in Nairobi.
During the meeting, Chairperson Youssouf briefed President Ruto on the progress made in implementing the ongoing AU institutional reforms and lauded the Kenyan leader’s steadfast role as Champion of the reform agenda.
President Ruto, in his remarks, commended the Chairperson’s dedication and achievements in strengthening the continental body’s governance and operational structures.
Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing reforms aimed at creating a more effective, sovereign, and fit-for-purpose African Union.
They also agreed to deepen collaboration ahead of the AU Special Summit on Reforms scheduled to take place in Luanda, Angola, this November.
