The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that the security situation in Alwasa Village, Argungu Local Government Area, is under control following a violent incident that resulted in casualties.
According to the command, the disturbance occurred on 23 March 2026 during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and involved a confrontation among youths, which led to multiple injuries.
Police authorities disclosed that one of the injured victims later died on 24 March 2026 while receiving treatment at General Hospital Argungu. The development reportedly triggered a reprisal attack, resulting in additional fatalities.
The command said it swiftly deployed personnel and reinforcement teams to the area, who are currently maintaining security presence to restore calm and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
A comprehensive investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, with efforts ongoing to identify and apprehend all those involved.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, condemned the violence and warned that individuals found engaging in unlawful acts would face decisive action.
Residents of the area have been urged to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
The police assured that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.
