The Super Eagles returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Iran in a friendly international on Friday in Antalya, Turkiye.
Goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams secured the win for Nigeria. Simon opened the scoring just six minutes into the match, cutting in from the left wing to beat Iranian goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand.
Nigeria doubled their lead in the 61st minute as Adams, set up by Ademola Lookman, slotted the ball home to make it 2-0. Iran pulled one back through Mehdi Taremi after a scramble in the box, but could not find an equaliser.
The match, hosted at the home ground of Turkish Super Lig side Antalyaspor, marked Nigeria’s first game since claiming bronze at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Coach Eric Chelle fielded a strong lineup, with Maduka Okoye starting in goal for the injured Stanley Nwabali. The Super Eagles will next face Jordan on Tuesday in the four-nation tournament.
