Nigerian footballer Victor Udoh has died at the age of 21. The former Southampton forward was reportedly found dead in Abuja after returning to Nigeria at the end of the 2025/2026 football season.
Udoh, who most recently played for Czech club Dynamo České Budějovice, was said to have gone out with friends on the night before his death and was later found dead the following morning.
Although the exact cause of death remains unclear, reports suggest he may have died on Monday due to possible food or alcohol poisoning.
Former club Southampton F.C. paid tribute to the late footballer in a post shared on social media.
“We are devastated by the tragic passing of former player Victor Udoh at the age of 21. The thoughts of everyone at #SaintsFC go out to Victor’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time,” the club wrote.
Belgian side Royal Antwerp F.C. also expressed grief over his death.
“With great dismay, RAFC has learned of the passing of former player Victor Udoh (21),” the club stated.
“Our thoughts are with Victor’s family, friends, and loved ones. We wish them much strength, support, and warmth during this particularly difficult time. Rest in peace, Victor.”
Udoh began his football career with Hypebuzz FC in Abuja before joining Royal Antwerp in 2023.
During his first season with the Young Reds, he scored 12 goals in 21 appearances and later made his first-team debut against Charleroi.
The Nigerian forward played 28 matches for Royal Antwerp, recording two assists before moving to Southampton on a three-and-a-half-year contract.
He later left the English club by mutual consent before signing for Dynamo České Budějovice in October 2025.
