The FCT Police Command has commenced a welfare bus scheme for its personnel, deploying Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses across key routes in Abuja and its environs.
The initiative, approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, is designed to ease transportation challenges and improve the overall welfare of officers.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the scheme officially takes effect from April 27, 2026.
According to the statement, three buses have been deployed to cover major routes within the Federal Capital Territory.
The first bus will operate from Goshen through Auta-Balefi, Masaka, Mararaba, and Nyanya, terminating at Area 11 Force Headquarters.
The second bus will depart from Zuba Divisional Headquarters, passing through Madalla, Abubakar Police Barracks, Brick City, Kubwa, Dutse Junction, and the Secretariat before arriving at Area 11.
The third bus will run from Kuje Divisional Headquarters through Kuje Police Barracks, Airport Road, Lugbe, and the Stadium axis, also terminating at Area 11 Force Headquarters.
All buses are scheduled to depart their respective take-off points daily at 6:15 a.m.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, commended the Inspector-General for the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward improving the working conditions and well-being of police personnel.
He urged officers to take full advantage of the scheme, noting that enhanced welfare is directly linked to improved discipline, efficiency, and service delivery within the Force.
