The Kano State Police Command has recorded fresh breakthroughs with the recovery of two stolen vehicles in separate intelligence-led operations across Tarauni and Kumbotso Local Government Areas.
The Command said the recoveries align with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on strengthening intelligence-driven and visibility policing nationwide.
Stolen Toyota Corolla Recovered in Tarauni
In the first case, a Toyota Corolla LE (2004 model), reported stolen on April 22, 2026, from Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Wuse, Abuja, was recovered by operatives of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS).
Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives tracked and recovered the vehicle at Darmarawa Lay-out, Naibawa area of Tarauni LGA.
Police said preliminary findings indicate the vehicle was abandoned by a suspected notorious car thief who remains at large, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
Kia Optima Recovered in Kumbotso
In a separate operation, detectives from Sharada Division recovered a stolen Kia Optima on April 25, 2026, at Ja’en Quarters in Kumbotso LGA.
The vehicle, belonging to one Musbahu Baba Muhammad, had earlier been stolen on April 24 from Khalifa Isyaka Rabiu Friday Mosque along BUK Road.
The recovery followed swift police action supported by members of the Zone 5 Ja’en Vigilante Group, highlighting effective collaboration between law enforcement and local security outfits.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the operatives of the Special Intervention Squad and Sharada Division for their professionalism and prompt response.
He also praised the vigilance and cooperation of community members and local vigilantes, noting that the successes reinforce the effectiveness of community policing strategies.
The Command assured residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that investigations are ongoing to arrest all suspects linked to the thefts.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies, as the police intensify efforts to curb criminal activities across the state.
