Results have started trickling in from polling units across Osun State following the conclusion of voting and counting in Saturday’s governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had scheduled voting to end at 2:30 p.m., but voters who were already on the queue before the closing time were allowed to cast their ballots.
As counting continues at polling units where voting has ended, results are being announced and recorded ahead of the ward, local government and state-level collation.
INEC said 2,339,233 voters are registered for the election, which features 15 political parties.
The major contenders in the election are the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Oyebamiji, and African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate Najeem Salaam.
Early results released from some polling units show a mixed performance between Adeleke’s Accord Party and Oyebamiji’s APC.

The figures are polling-unit results and do not represent the overall state result. More results are expected as counting and collation continue across Osun State.
The final outcome will be determined by the cumulative results from all polling units and subsequent collation by INEC.
