Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, has said the country is ready to support global energy stability as rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue to disrupt oil supply.
Speaking amid concerns over production and transport challenges in key oil-producing countries such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Iraq, Idris noted that Nigeria is prepared to play a role in easing supply pressures and ensuring energy security.
“Nigeria is ever ready to contribute to energy security around the world. Whatever Nigeria can do to ease tension, it will do. The world needs oil, and Nigeria is there,” he said.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister also highlighted the importance of President Bola Tinubu’s ongoing foreign engagements, describing them as vital to strengthening Nigeria’s global partnerships, particularly with the United Kingdom.
He said the visit underscores the longstanding relationship between both countries and is expected to deepen economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties.
Idris further noted that recent reforms by the Tinubu administration are improving Nigeria’s economic outlook and global perception, adding that the government remains committed to sustaining reforms, enhancing security, and creating a safer environment for citizens.
He dismissed claims of failure by security agencies, stating that while more work is needed, efforts are ongoing to maintain stability, especially in regions like Maiduguri, which he said has seen improvements over time.
