Mrs. Folawe Alamu, the principal abducted during the recent school attacks in Oyo State, has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and other stakeholders to pursue dialogue with her captors rather than forceful rescue operations.
Alamu made the appeal in a new distress video that surfaced online on Friday, marking the second video message released since her abduction during coordinated attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026.
Speaking from an undisclosed location believed to be within a forested area, the visibly distressed principal said both the teachers and schoolchildren being held captive were facing difficult conditions and increasing uncertainty.
According to her, the victims have been exposed to harsh weather conditions while remaining in captivity for nearly two weeks.
The video, which appeared to have been recorded on May 27 but only gained widespread attention on Friday, featured an emotional appeal for urgent intervention.
“About 13 days ago, we were picked from work and since then, we are still in the bush and we are begging you, President Tinubu, Governor Seyi and every well-meaning Nigerian to please help us,” she said.
Alamu also appealed directly to the Nigeria Union of Teachers and the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, urging them to support efforts aimed at securing the release of the captives through negotiations.
She warned against any action that could further endanger the lives of those being held.
“We don’t need force. All they have to do is negotiate with them and release us,” she stated.
“We are in the cold, under the sun and under the rain — the children and adults as well. Please don’t let them waste our lives. They are getting impatient and frustrated.”
The latest appeal comes amid ongoing security operations in the Ogbomoso axis and growing concern among relatives of the abducted victims.
Alamu was among the teachers kidnapped during the attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area, including Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinle; and L.A. Primary School.
Efforts by security agencies to secure the release of the abducted teachers and pupils are still ongoing.
