Several persons have been killed following a suspected car bomb explosion at Nuku, a settlement near Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, with only one occupant reportedly surviving.
The blast occurred on Monday, 23 March 2026, just about 200 metres from Woro, a community still recovering from the 3 February attack by suspected terrorists that left nearly 200 people dead and about 176 others abducted.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the vehicle was heading toward the community when it suddenly exploded, triggering a loud detonation that caused panic across surrounding settlements.
Local residents described the impact as severe, although the exact number of casualties has not yet been officially confirmed.
The latest incident has heightened tension in Kaiama and nearby communities, with residents expressing growing concerns over renewed violence and calling for stronger security presence to forestall further attacks.
The Kwara State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the development.
Meanwhile, community leaders have appealed for calm as security agencies intensify monitoring and surveillance in the area.
