President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace the lessons of Eid-el-Kabir by loving one another and promoting peaceful coexistence across the country.
Tinubu made the call after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at Dodan Barracks on Lagos Island.
The President joined other top government officials and Muslim faithful for the prayers, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa; Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu; and former Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.
President Tinubu stressed the importance of tolerance, unity and obedience to the rule of law, noting that the teachings of Islam condemn violence and the unlawful taking of lives.
He said Nigerians should use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to strengthen love for one another and promote peaceful living irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.
The President also encouraged citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, compassion and obedience associated with the celebration.
The Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks attracted political leaders, party members and residents who gathered to observe the festival alongside the President and other dignitaries.
