Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Nigerians to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and collective sacrifice as the country continues its economic and social reforms under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Shettima made the call in his Eid-el-Kabir message to Nigerians contained in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.

The Vice President said the values of faith, obedience, sacrifice and compassion associated with Eid-el-Kabir remain essential to Nigeria’s pursuit of peace, stability and inclusive development.

He encouraged Nigerians to use the festive period for reflection and to extend support to the less privileged, stressing the importance of national cohesion despite ethnic, religious and political differences.

“This is a period of sober reflection, a season of reaching out to the indigent among us, of building bridges of brotherhood and sisterhood,” Shettima said.

“What binds us together supersedes whatever divides us. As a nation, we must continue to strengthen the spirit of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence for our collective progress and prosperity,” he added.

According to the Vice President, sustainable national development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of distrust and division, urging citizens to unite in addressing the country’s common challenges.

Shettima also assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration remains committed to tackling insecurity, stabilising the economy, creating jobs and expanding opportunities across the country.

“Our nation is undergoing a process of renewal and transformation aimed at securing a more stable and prosperous future for generations to come. While the reforms may require patience and sacrifice, they are necessary steps toward rebuilding a stronger Nigeria,” he stated.

The Vice President appealed for continued support for the Federal Government’s reform agenda, noting that unity of purpose and shared sacrifice are necessary to overcome insecurity, poverty and other socio-economic challenges.

He further reassured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security nationwide while commending the sacrifices of members of the armed forces and other security agencies.

“No matter how long the night may seem, dawn will surely come. Nigeria is steadily advancing on the path of peace, recovery and sustainable development,” Shettima said.
