The Chairman of the Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Board (SOZEA), Malam Lawal Mohammad Maidoki, has praised Turkish humanitarian organisations, Diversity Tokyo and Sulemania Humanitarian Association, for supporting vulnerable families through a large-scale Qurbani meat distribution exercise in Sokoto State.
Speaking with journalists at the slaughtering ground on Wednesday, Maidoki described the initiative as a major humanitarian intervention designed to ease hardship among poor and vulnerable residents during the Eid al-Adha celebrations.
According to him, the partnership between the Turkish organisations and the Sokoto State Zakkat and Endowment Board demonstrates the importance of international collaboration in supporting disadvantaged communities.
“This is both an act of ‘Ibaadah and humanitarian service. Today, between 2,000 and 3,000 bulls, alongside 20 to 30 camels, are being slaughtered. By the grace of Allah, the meat will be distributed to families within and outside Sokoto who may not be financially capable of performing Qurbani themselves,” Maidoki said.
He commended Diversity Tokyo and the Sulemania Humanitarian Association for including Sokoto among beneficiaries of the intervention.
“We sincerely appreciate Diversity Tokyo and the Sulemania Humanitarian Association for remembering the people of Sokoto and extending this noble sacrifice to them. Gestures like this help strengthen the unity and brotherhood among Muslims across different countries,” he added.
The SOZEA chairman also acknowledged the support of Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto for facilitating the successful implementation of the exercise and for warmly receiving the foreign partners.
Maidoki explained that the distribution exercise specifically targets vulnerable groups, including widows, low-income families, the sick, and other residents unable to afford meat during the festive period.
“The objective is clear to spread happiness and ensure that everyone benefits from the blessings of Eid,” he stated.
He further disclosed that prayers were offered during the exercise for peace, stability, healing for the sick, and relief for people facing economic hardship across Sokoto State and Nigeria.
The chairman assured residents that the board, working with community leaders and volunteers, would ensure transparent and equitable distribution of the meat to intended beneficiaries across the state.
