Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has successfully scaled the All Progressives Congress (APC) screening exercise ahead of the party’s primary election for the Nasarawa North Senatorial seat.
The screening exercise was conducted on Saturday at the Plateau State Liaison Office in Abuja by the APC National Screening Committee.
Governor Sule arrived at the venue alongside the Chairman of his Campaign Council, Senator Philip Aruwa Gyunka, the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman, Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha, as well as several political stakeholders and supporters from the Nasarawa North Senatorial Zone.
Also screened during the exercise was the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel A. Akabe, who is contesting for the APC senatorial ticket for the Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone.
Addressing journalists after the screening, Governor Sule described the process as smooth and commended the APC leadership for the reception extended to aspirants.
“From what you have seen, the screening was just a quick exercise. The party has seen what we have done, and they are appreciating it. We thank God,” Sule stated.
The governor also praised President Bola Tinubu for implementing what he described as bold economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.
According to him, the policies, though difficult, have placed the country on the path to economic recovery and long-term stability.
Sule further commended the APC for expanding its political influence across the country, noting that the ruling party had continued to gain strength since the 2023 general elections.
He said the APC, which controlled about 21 states after the last election cycle, was now positioning itself to secure even more states ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor also disclosed that he had been monitoring a kidnapping incident involving students residing off campus at the Nasarawa State-owned university shortly before attending the screening exercise.
He assured residents that security agencies had made significant progress in the investigation, including the arrest of the alleged leader of the kidnap gang.
