The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two men over the alleged vandalism of electric cables and poles along the Gitata–Gunduma Road in Nasarawa State.

The suspects, identified as Chigozie Igbokwe, 41, and Emmanuel John, 45, were apprehended on 6 March 2026 at about 5:40 a.m. by a patrol team attached to the Gitata Division.

Police authorities disclosed that the patrol team intercepted the suspects while they were allegedly removing and transporting vandalised electrical materials from the roadside infrastructure.

Items reportedly recovered from the suspects include iron cutters, pliers, spanners, electric cables, and a grey Hyundai Sonata with registration number GWA 44 PM, which was allegedly used to convey the stolen materials.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure the suspects are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The police command noted that the arrest underscores ongoing efforts by security agencies to safeguard public infrastructure and curb crimes capable of disrupting essential services.

Authorities also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies to help maintain safety across communities in the state.
