The Zamfara State Government on Thursday, 8 January 2026, held its first Executive Council meeting of the year at the Council Chamber, presided over by Governor Dauda Lawal.

The meeting focused on key governance and development issues, with the governor urging commissioners and other council members to embrace discipline, prudence and dedication in the discharge of their duties to ensure sustainable development across the state.

Governor Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing Zamfara State, assuring that all ongoing projects—whether inherited or initiated by his government—would be completed. He added that new projects would also be awarded, with emphasis on initiatives that would directly improve the lives of residents.

The governor further reiterated assurances earlier given to religious leaders, pledging that his administration would honour all commitments in the interest of peace, unity and social cohesion in the state.

He also assured civil servants and the general public that his government would continue to prioritise workers’ welfare, stressing that the wellbeing of citizens remains central to the administration’s policies and programmes.

The meeting ended with members of the Executive Council expressing renewed resolve to work collectively towards the growth, development and prosperity of Zamfara State.

The statement was signed by Nuhu Salihu Anka, Director General, Media and Communication.
