Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has relieved all Special Advisers serving in his administration of their appointments, as part of efforts to restructure governance and enhance service delivery in the state.
The decision was announced on Tuesday during the governor’s maiden State Executive Council meeting with newly sworn-in commissioners, held at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim, the move was described as a strategic step aimed at repositioning the advisory structure of the government in line with the administration’s development objectives.
Governor Bago explained that the decision would allow the government to reassess and realign the advisers’ portfolios to improve efficiency and effectiveness, in line with his “New Niger” development agenda.
He expressed appreciation to the affected Special Advisers for their sacrifices, dedication and contributions to the achievements recorded by the administration so far.
The governor also wished them well in their future endeavours, noting that the restructuring exercise was not punitive but intended to strengthen governance and service delivery across the state.
