The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced a total ban on the sale, distribution, and use of fireworks, knockouts, and other explosive devices across the state. The Command warned that anyone caught violating the directive will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
According to the police, the measure is aimed at maintaining public peace, preventing fear and confusion, and stopping criminals from exploiting the sound of explosive devices to carry out unlawful activities.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has directed area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical units to intensify patrols and surveillance to enforce the prohibition. The Command advised shop owners and dealers to comply immediately and cautioned parents and guardians to ensure their children do not purchase or use banned items.
Residents are also urged to remain vigilant and report any violations or suspicious activities. The Command assured the public that all reports will be treated with strict confidentiality.
