The Nasarawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the planned Karu flyover and underpass project before the end of the current administration in 2027.
Mr. Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Public Affairs, disclosed that the state government has secured approval from the Federal Government for the construction. He added that funds have already been set aside for the project, while the Nasarawa State Urban Development Agency (NUDA) has been directed to carry out a feasibility study and site assessment to determine suitable locations.
The project aims to ease the persistent traffic congestion in Karu and improve mobility for residents, motorists, and travelers. It is also expected to enhance road quality, safety, and durability.
Meanwhile, Ahemba cautioned political appointees against engaging in premature campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections. Governor Sule, he said, has directed all appointees to focus on fulfilling their mandates rather than diverting attention to political activities.
He further revealed that plans are underway to hold an Education Summit before the end of 2025 to address issues affecting basic education in the state.
On security, the government reiterated its commitment to equipping security agencies with modern surveillance tools, including drones and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras, to strengthen intelligence gathering and curb crimes such as kidnapping.
According to the aide, the government has adopted new strategies to ensure that criminal activities are reduced to the barest minimum across the state.
