The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old suspected armed robber and kidnapper after officers discovered a fabricated Beretta pistol ingeniously concealed inside a loaf of bread.
According to a statement issued by the Command, the arrest occurred on November 6, 2025, at about 8:45 a.m., when operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), during a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba, noticed a young man exhibiting suspicious behaviour.
A detailed search led to the startling discovery of a fabricated Beretta pistol hidden inside a loaf of bread. The suspect, identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, aged 24, of Ogbeowele Quarters, behind General Hospital, Asaba, was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
The recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit while investigations are underway to determine the suspect’s possible connections to recent incidents of armed robbery and kidnapping in Asaba and its surrounding communities.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, describing the arrest as “further evidence of the Command’s effective intelligence-driven operations.”
He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to identify, arrest, and prosecute all criminal elements regardless of their methods, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to the police.
CP Olufemi assured members of the public that all reports would be treated with the utmost confidentiality and reiterated his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across Delta State.
