Professor Segun Aina has officially assumed duty as the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Aina took over the leadership of the examination body on Friday at its headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, following the completion of Ishaq Oloyede’s 10-year tenure as Registrar.

President Bola Tinubu had, on May 21, appointed Aina as the substantive Registrar of JAMB to succeed Oloyede, who served two five-year terms.

At the time of his appointment, Aina was 39 years old, making him the youngest Registrar in the history of the Board.

Announcing the appointment, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Aina as “a distinguished academic and systems expert with extensive experience in national examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector institutional reform.”

Onanuga added: “At 39, he became one of Nigeria’s youngest Computer Engineering professors and will now make history as JAMB’s youngest Registrar.”

In his maiden address after assuming office, Aina pledged to sustain the credibility of JAMB while introducing more technology-driven measures to curb examination malpractice.

The Computer Engineering professor warned individuals involved in examination fraud to desist, saying, “Their business is in a wrong institution.”

He said the Board, under his leadership, would continue to deploy modern technology and strengthen collaboration with security agencies to protect the integrity of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and other examinations conducted by JAMB.
