The seventh edition of the African Emerging Markets Forum is underway at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Abuja, bringing together policymakers, business leaders and financial experts from across the continent.

The event is attended by the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji; as well as business experts and participants from across Africa.

The Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, is also expected to participate in the forum.

Themed “Building Resilience Amidst Geoeconomic Uncertainties,” the forum provides a platform for policymakers and finance experts to examine strategies for addressing volatility in global and domestic markets while exploring opportunities to boost investment and deepen financial inclusion across emerging economies.

In his welcome address, the CBN Deputy Governor in charge of Corporate Services, Muhammad Abdullahi, said that although global economic headwinds continue to weigh on emerging markets, the prevailing uncertainties also present opportunities to strengthen fiscal and monetary policy outcomes.

He noted that the forum would facilitate discussions aimed at enhancing resilience and promoting sustainable economic growth across Africa amid an increasingly challenging global economic environment.
