The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced registration for candidates seeking admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programmes in Colleges of Education and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes in Polytechnics.
JAMB, in a statement issued on Thursday by its Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, said eligible candidates no longer need to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to gain admission into the programmes.
The board said applicants with the required O’Level credits can register at any Institutional Professional Registration Centre (IPRC) located in Colleges of Education or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC) nationwide.
“As previously announced, the Federal Government has waived the requirement for candidates seeking admission into NCE and Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME),” JAMB stated.
The examination body explained that it has put in place a structured admission process to ensure the policy does not compromise academic standards.
“JAMB has developed a robust admission process to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted, thereby maintaining and enhancing the quality and standards of these programmes,” the statement added.
JAMB encouraged prospective candidates to take advantage of the opportunity by visiting the designated registration centres with their O’Level credentials, stressing that no UTME examination is required.
The board also disclosed that candidates who participated in the 2026 UTME but wish to switch to NCE or Non-Technological Agricultural Programmes can convert their applications at any IPRC or JAMB PRC at no extra cost.
According to JAMB, the initiative is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to expand access to teacher education and agricultural training while maintaining the quality of admissions into the programmes.
