Desmond Elliot has officially withdrawn from the race for re-election into the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Elliot, who currently represents Surulere I constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, announced his withdrawal in a video circulating on social media on Wednesday.
In the video, the lawmaker alleged that intimidation and restrictions against his supporters influenced his decision to step down from the contest.
“My name is Desmond Elliot. In all zones, they have been intimidating and stopping us,” he said.
“I want to officially announce my withdrawal from this particular race. This is my ward, if you go outside, those are my people outside, and they have not been allowed, so I am officially announcing my withdrawal from this race. Good luck, thank you.”
Elliot had been seeking re-election to continue representing Surulere I constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the APC.
