The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismantled kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages of Lafia East Development Area, arresting six suspected kidnappers and rescuing three abducted victims.
Police operatives attached to the Assakio Division, working in collaboration with local vigilantes, carried out the coordinated operation, which led to the safe rescue of two females and one male. The victims were rescued unhurt, received prompt medical attention, and were subsequently reunited with their families.
According to the command, the operation followed a complaint received on 07 January 2026, reporting that suspected kidnappers invaded Angara village, abducted two women while abandoning an infant, and later kidnapped a male resident in the same community.
Acting on the report, the Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, immediately ordered a manhunt for the perpetrators. The directive resulted in the storming of the kidnappers’ hideouts and the successful arrest of the suspects.
Police disclosed that the suspects have confessed to the crime and have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation and prosecution, on the directive of the commissioner.
The Commissioner of Police reassured residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s sustained offensive against criminal elements, reiterating its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, ANIPR, on 09 January 2026.
