The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has announced that more than 250,000 Nigerian women have registered for the EmpowerHER Financial Literacy Programme, a flagship initiative aimed at boosting women’s financial, digital, and entrepreneurial capacity nationwide.

The programme, spearheaded by the Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, represents a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s efforts to enhance women’s economic inclusion and participation in national development.

Implemented in collaboration with Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, a financial literacy and empowerment organization, EmpowerHER provides access to tailored training, digital tools, and mentorship opportunities for women across Nigeria.

Speaking at the official launch in Abuja, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim described the initiative as a cornerstone for sustainable national transformation.

“With EmpowerHER, we are laying the foundation for a financially literate and economically empowered generation of Nigerian women , one that will strengthen families, communities, and our nation,” she said.

The Minister emphasized that financial and digital literacy will underpin all empowerment programmes of the Ministry, ensuring accountability, sustainability, and measurable progress. She noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions 774 under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Also speaking, Kathleen Erhimu, Founder of Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, said EmpowerHER is more than a government project — it is a national movement designed to ensure women, whether in business, public service, or rural enterprise, have the skills to build wealth and secure financial independence.

The programme, accessible through the Happy Woman Platform, features comprehensive learning modules on financial and digital literacy, entrepreneurship development, access to finance, mentorship, and networking.

Anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda, EmpowerHER targets to reach 10 million Nigerian women by 2030, both online and through community-based channels, ensuring no woman is left behind.

Hon. Sulaiman-Ibrahim reaffirmed her ministry’s commitment to inclusivity and lifelong empowerment, stating that:

“From the classroom to the marketplace, every Nigerian woman deserves the knowledge and tools to thrive — building a generation that is informed, equipped, and unstoppable.”
