The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has reaffirmed its commitment to ethical leadership, announcing that only individuals with proven integrity and corruption-free records will be allowed to contest elective positions or hold appointments under its platform.

Speaking to journalists shortly after a stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau, the Deputy National Leader of the party for the North-West Zone, Nasir El-Rufai, said the ADC is determined to offer a credible alternative by addressing key challenges affecting governance in Nigeria.

El-Rufai, a former two-term Governor of Kaduna State, disclosed that the party’s constitution contains a unique code of ethics that every leader and aspirant must sign. This, he said, ensures that the ADC remains a corruption-free and accountable political movement.

“The ADC Constitution has a code of ethics for leaders and aspirants, and those to be appointed when elections are won. It requires that only people with integrity and corruption-free minds are allowed to contest or serve,” El-Rufai stated.

He added that priority would be given to youth under 40 and persons with disabilities to encourage inclusivity and participation in governance.

On the party’s internal cohesion, El-Rufai expressed satisfaction with the unity among ADC members in Zamfara State, noting that earlier divisions had been resolved.

“The first challenge we had in Zamfara was a power tussle and lack of unity, but thank God the family is now formidable, united, and strong,” he said.

He commended the Deputy National Organising Secretary and the state chairman for fostering peace and cooperation among coalition groups, stressing that unity is the foundation for the party’s growth ahead of the coming elections.

El-Rufai also urged members to participate actively in the ongoing voter registration exercise, emphasizing that political success depends on mass voter mobilization and credible participation.
