A member of the Osun State APC Campaign Council Media Committee, Kehinde Ayantunji, has called on security agencies to investigate alleged mobilisation of political thugs to the Osun State Government House ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Speaking at a press briefing in Osogbo on Friday, Ayantunji alleged that intelligence received by the APC indicated that a large number of suspected thugs, some allegedly from outside the state, had been moved into the Government House.
He claimed that the individuals were being coordinated by two persons identified by the codenames “Olowe” and “Iberu” and alleged that several vehicles had been used to transport them.
Ayantunji said the party had photographic evidence supporting its claims and alleged that the suspected mobilisation was targeted at parts of Osogbo and Egbedore Local Government Areas.
He urged the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Oluwatosin Ajayi, to investigate the allegations and take necessary action to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
The APC campaign council member also raised concerns over an armoured vehicle reportedly stationed at the entrance of the Government House, questioning its deployment ahead of the election.
Ayantunji stressed that the APC was not accusing INEC or security agencies of wrongdoing but wanted the allegations properly investigated.
The claims come less than 24 hours before Osun voters are scheduled to elect their governor, amid heightened security preparations across the state.
