Accreditation, voting, sorting, and counting have concluded in some polling units across Anambra South Senatorial District, with reports indicating a largely peaceful exercise.
At Dim Ala polling units 101 and 102 in Orsumenyi Ward 1, Nnewi South Local Government Area, the process went smoothly, with a high voter turnout recorded.
However, one of the candidates in the election raised concerns over alleged voter inducement, describing it as a development that could compromise the integrity of the process.
At Aguluezigbo Primary Health Centre, sorting and counting have also been completed, while a large number of voters stayed behind to witness the conclusion of the exercise.
Senator representing Anambra Central, Victor Umeh, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for what he described as a remarkable milestone in the conduct of the polls. He, however, expressed concern over reports of underage voting and vote trading in the country’s electoral system.
At Ichida Ward 1, Unit 5—which accommodates five polling units—a significant crowd remained at the venue to monitor the end of the voting process.
Meanwhile, voting continues in other parts of the state, with security agencies maintaining strong surveillance to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and orderly electoral process.
