Human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, has stepped down as the National Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC).
The party disclosed this in a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
According to the statement, Samuel Ajeigbe has now assumed office as the new National Chairman of the party.
“Omoyele Sowore has officially stepped down as the National Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC),” the statement read.
“The party hereby welcomes Samuel Ajeigbe as the new National Chairman of our great party,” it added.
Sowore, who previously contested Nigeria’s presidential election under the AAC platform in 2019 and 2023, recently confirmed his intention to participate in the 2027 presidential race ahead of the party’s primary election.
