Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for approving the rehabilitation of key federal roads in the state.
The approval, granted by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), covers the Osogbo–Gbongan–Akoda–Osogbo road and the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan corridor.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed.
Reacting, Adeleke said the projects would provide significant relief to road users and boost economic activities across the state.
“The rehabilitation of Osogbo–Gbongan road and Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan road will no doubt bring great relief and enhance economic development in Osun State,” he said.
The governor recalled raising the poor condition of the roads during a working visit to the Works Minister in October 2024, where he requested urgent federal intervention.
He praised both the President and the minister for responding to the request and pledged the state government’s support during the execution of the projects.
“I applaud the listening ears of Mr President and the Minister and assure them of our cooperation in delivering these projects,” he added.
Adeleke further described the approval as a reflection of effective collaboration between the state and the Federal Government, expressing optimism about strengthened partnership going forward.
