The Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Council, Hon. Dr. Idris Ahmad Damagani, has presented a proposed ₦9.63 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year** to the Keffi Local Government Legislative Arm.
Presenting the appropriation proposal at the Legislative Chamber on 23 December 2025, Damagani said the budget reflects cooperation between the executive and legislative arms and underscored the need for timely passage to enhance effective grassroots service delivery.
He explained that the ₦9,625,786,001 budget was designed to address the needs and aspirations of residents while complementing the development agenda of the Nasarawa State Government, with emphasis on prudent resource management and people-focused governance.
A breakdown of the proposal shows that ₦4.11 billion (43 per cent) is allocated to capital projects, while ₦5.51 billion (57 per cent) is earmarked for recurrent expenditure. Education received the largest sectoral allocation with ₦1.93 billion (20 per cent), followed by Security with ₦1.08 billion (11 per cent) and Health with ₦962.6 million (10 per cent). Other allocations include Social Contributions at ₦870.3 million (9 per cent) and Agriculture and Natural Resources at ₦673.8 million (7 per cent).
Damagani said the local government, as the tier closest to the people, must remain accountable, transparent, and responsive in policy formulation and implementation. He appealed to the Legislative Council to support the budget proposal in the interest of sustained development and shared prosperity in 2026 and beyond.
The chairman also commended Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for what he described as notable developmental strides across the state, particularly the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage, which he said has brought relief to civil servants.
He urged residents of Keffi Local Government Area to continue supporting the state government, reaffirming the council’s commitment to aligning with Nasarawa State’s vision of sustainable growth and inclusive development.
