The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has clarified that a pamphlet circulating on social media, which allegedly instructs corps members to pay ransom if kidnapped, is fake and does not reflect the scheme’s security policies.

In a statement, NYSC management noted that a similar document was presented by a consultant in 2021 but was never approved or implemented. The statement emphasized that the current circulating material is not an official NYSC publication and should be ignored.

“Management wishes to make it clear that the document being circulated is not an official NYSC publication and does not represent the Scheme’s policy regarding staff and Corps Members’ security,” the statement said.

The scheme reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare and safety of staff and corps members, highlighting ongoing collaboration with security agencies to respond to threats and enhance protection.

“Nigeria is ours; Nigeria we serve,” the statement added.
