The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled several high-profile members, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), former Governor Ayo Fayose, and Austin Nwachukwu, for alleged anti-party activities. The announcement was made during the party’s ongoing 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday.
According to a statement released on the party’s official social media handles, the decision “was promptly ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates,” reflecting the party’s “commitment to restoring unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
The statement added that the move “underscores the party’s commitment to eradicating internal divisions and anti-party conduct that have plagued its progress.”
Additional reports indicate that Chief Olabode George, former national vice-chairman of the PDP (South), moved the motion for the expulsions, which was seconded by Samaila Buga, PDP chairman in Bauchi. Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi and chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, put the motion to a voice vote, leading to its approval.
