The Vice President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ojo Bright Eniafe, has condemned recent statements attributed to former U.S. President Donald Trump about potential military intervention in Nigeria.
Eniafe warned against any form of foreign interference disguised as “protecting interests,” describing it as a continuation of “old CIA tactics” the U.S. often employs when it fails to exert influence over another nation.
Reacting to Trump’s alleged remarks — which many have described as provocative and baseless — Eniafe said, “It is absolutely ridiculous to suggest military intervention in Nigeria,” adding that no external force has the right to impose its will on a sovereign nation with a rich heritage and diverse culture.
Citing historical precedents, he highlighted the negative outcomes of past U.S. interventions in countries like Afghanistan and Libya, noting that such actions left those nations destabilized rather than peaceful.
“The world is painfully aware of the chaos that ensued after U.S. military actions,” he said, rejecting the notion that Nigeria could ever be “helped through bombs or boots on the ground.”
He continued, “While any instance of violence is unacceptable, labeling Nigeria a terrorist state based on isolated incidents is both laughable and ignorant.”
Eniafe also pointed out America’s domestic struggles with gun violence and civil unrest, questioning the moral authority of U.S. leaders in global affairs.
Drawing from his background in a multi-religious family, he affirmed his neutrality on religious issues, stressing that his criticism stemmed from a patriotic standpoint.
According to him, Trump’s posture reflects self-interest rather than genuine concern for Nigeria’s peace and development.
Calling on the Federal Government to act decisively, Eniafe urged authorities to summon the U.S. Ambassador for clarification and to defend Nigeria’s sovereignty.
He further explained that Nigeria’s growing partnership with global blocs such as BRICS should be viewed as a strategic step toward mutual development — not as a rejection of the U.S.
“I stand with the people and government of Nigeria,” Eniafe declared, reaffirming the NYCN’s commitment to protect the nation’s integrity against external threats.
As global political tensions heighten, Eniafe and the NYCN are emerging as strong voices for national pride, unity, and resilience.
