The Kebbi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Ibrahim Muhammad Augie as the new running mate to Governor Nasir Idris ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Muhammad, in the presence of party officials and supporters.
Suleiman urged party members and supporters to accept the development as the will of God, while calling on residents and supporters of the outgoing Deputy Governor, Abubakar Umar Tafida, to work with the new team for the development of the state.
Speaking with journalists after the event, Governor Nasir Idris said he had no disagreement with his deputy, Senator Abubakar Umar Tafida, despite the change in the party’s ticket.
Idris assured party supporters that he would work with Augie and remain committed to the development of Kebbi State.
Ibrahim Muhammad Augie previously served as Commissioner for Finance during the administration of former Governor Atiku Bagudu.
He is from Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The development comes ahead of the 2027 governorship election as the APC begins preparations to retain control of the state.
