The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that herdsmen attacked and disrupted a crusade in Agboda Village, describing the circulating claims and accompanying video as false and misleading.
In a statement, the Command said its investigation revealed that no such attack occurred. Instead, a motorcyclist had been assaulted by unidentified persons, and officers have since recovered the stolen motorcycle while continuing their investigation.
The police confirmed that Daniel Ukpo, the individual who recorded and circulated the viral video, is in custody. According to the Command, Ukpo has admitted that there was no herdsmen attack or disruption of any religious gathering in the community.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, urged religious leaders to promote peace and cautioned journalists and members of the public against sharing unverified information that could incite fear or tension.
The Command assured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and encouraged the public to report suspicious activities through appropriate channels.
Residents were advised to disregard the false reports and remain calm as efforts to maintain peace and order continue across the state.
