Adeleke’s Victory Is ‘Lord’s Doing’, Says Imole Campaign Council

The official spokesperson for the Imole Campaign Council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has described Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in the Osun State governorship election as “the Lord’s doing” and a reflection of the will of the people.

Olajengbesi spoke shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of Saturday’s election, saying the result demonstrated that the governor remained the preferred choice of Osun voters.

“I am super excited. This is the Lord’s doing. This is the manifestation of God’s hand. This is the will of the people of Osun State,” he said.

According to him, Adeleke’s victory also affirmed the governor’s performance in office and showed that the electorate had renewed his mandate.

“I am glad because this election has clearly shown that Governor Ademola Adeleke is the man of the people. This election has justified that Mr Governor has performed very well. The people of Osun State have renewed the mandate by supporting him as the Governor of Osun State,” Olajengbesi said.

He alleged that Adeleke faced intimidation and harassment during the election period but still emerged victorious despite what he described as the “reckless use of power and abuse of institutions.”

“So we are glad, we are super happy,” he added.

Olajengbesi said the outcome also vindicated Adeleke’s confidence throughout the campaign, noting that the governor had consistently expressed his trust in God.

“Importantly, we are glad because throughout the process of this campaign, Mr Governor was very confident. He had his trust in God, and this election is done already,” he said.

He added that the result showed that Osun voters were determined to elect a leader committed to serving them.

“This is the proof that the people of Osun State are determined to elect a leader who is willing to serve the people of Osun State,” Olajengbesi said.

The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, declared Adeleke the winner at the INEC collation centre in Osogbo in the early hours of Sunday.

Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.

Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came third with 17,180 votes.

Ogunwole said 1,005,800 votes were cast across the state’s 30 local government areas, while 985,079 votes were recorded as valid. A total of 1,010,684 voters were accredited for the election.

The election, which featured 15 political parties, followed months of intense campaigning and heightened political tension across the state.

Adeleke’s victory secures a second term for the governor, who won his first term in 2022 on the PDP platform before defecting to the Accord Party in December 2025.

The result brings to an end a keenly contested governorship election in which Adeleke defeated the APC’s Oyebamiji by 66,252 votes.
