President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, participated in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary on Saturday in Ward E, Ikoyi, Lagos, as the ruling party intensified preparations for the 2027 general election.
The president and the First Lady arrived at the venue in a motorcade and were welcomed by a large crowd of party supporters, security personnel and journalists.
Videos from the event showed Tinubu and Oluremi moving through dense crowds of APC members dressed in traditional attire during the exercise.
The primary forms part of the APC’s ward-level primaries taking place nationwide in May 2026, through which the incumbent president is seeking re-nomination as the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
The event attracted heavy media presence, with cameras capturing the president’s movement through the crowd of party faithful gathered at the Ikoyi ward.
Speaking after voting, Tinubu described the exercise as a reflection of internal democracy within the APC and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the process across the country.
“Demonstration of internal democracy, and it has been going very well according to plan. This is politics, grassroots politics, where every member of the party has the right to participate and be involved,” he said.
“Today, I am very satisfied that these governors have done well in their various states.
“From the ward congresses to local government congresses, to the delegation accreditation, validation, members register and certification of the electoral process. It has been going very well.
“At least, you will score democracy at a high level,” the president added.
