The Senate has confirmed Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Their confirmation followed a formal nomination request submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and read on the Senate floor during plenary by Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio on Tuesday, as earlier reported by EquityTv.
Both nominees were screened by lawmakers in accordance with constitutional provisions before securing approval.
Tegbe’s confirmation comes after the resignation of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue elective office ahead of the 2027 elections.
An indigene of Oyo State, Tegbe is a fiscal and economic reform expert with over 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led major initiatives in fiscal policy reform, governance, and institutional transformation.
Also confirmed, Enikanolaiye will serve as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. His appointment follows earlier changes within the ministry that saw Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu assume a senior role after previously serving as Minister of State.
Before his nomination, Enikanolaiye served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. A career diplomat from Kogi State, he brings over three decades of experience in Nigeria’s foreign service.
His diplomatic career includes roles as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and postings in key global cities such as Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.
The confirmations mark a further step in the Tinubu administration’s efforts to strengthen governance across critical sectors, particularly power and foreign relations, as Nigeria navigates ongoing economic and diplomatic challenges.
