The Nasarawa State Police Command has intensified security measures across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations to ensure a peaceful and crime-free festive season.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, disclosed this after a strategic meeting with Area and Operational Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and heads of tactical units, where comprehensive plans were finalised to safeguard lives and property during the Yuletide.
The police chief ordered sustained raids on identified flashpoints and criminal hideouts, alongside intensified confidence-building patrols and enhanced visibility policing across urban centres, highways and rural communities.
CP Shetima charged officers and men of the command to carry out their duties with professionalism, discipline and commitment, stressing that the objective is to guarantee a safe environment that allows residents to celebrate without fear.
He also reiterated the existing ban on the use, sale and possession of knockouts and other explosive devices, warning that anyone found violating the directive would be dealt with in accordance with the law. Parents and guardians were urged to caution their wards against engaging in such activities, which pose serious risks to public safety.
The Nasarawa State Police Command reassured residents of its unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security before, during and after the festive period, while calling on the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities.
With the enhanced security measures in place, the command expressed confidence that Nasarawa State would experience a peaceful and enjoyable Yuletide celebration.
