Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has submitted a Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N92,150,231,374.88 for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
The bill scaled first reading at Monday’s plenary and is scheduled for second reading on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, disclosed during proceedings in Lafia.
In his letter presenting the supplementary budget, Governor Sule stated:
“The 2025 Appropriations was designed with the objective of achieving a realistic and implementable budget outcome, considering prevailing economic uncertainties. The State Government has observed with delight the improved inflows from both the Federation Accounts, Capital Receipts Predominantly from the NG-CARES and SABER Programme for Results, and Internally Generated Revenue within the fiscal year.”
He explained that the supplementary budget aligns accounting records with the administration’s new plans for infrastructural development across the state, including the approval for a flyover at Mararaba, and captures newly created government agencies passed into law by the House of Assembly, notably the Fire and Rescue Service, Education Trust Fund, and Electricity Regulatory Commission, among others.
“It has become expedient for Government to prepare a supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year and to amend other line items in order to accommodate emerging policies, projects, and programmes,” the governor added.
“There is the need for budgetary adjustments and reviews to meet the emerging demands and challenges arising from changes in national macroeconomic variables.”
According to the Speaker:
“A Bill for a Law to Authorize the Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State the Sum of N92,150,231,374.88 only (Supplementary/Amendment Appropriation Bill) for the Services of Nasarawa State Government for the 2025 Fiscal Year to N476,468,074,966.91 only, covering the period from 1st January to 31st December 2025, scales first reading.”
Rt. Hon. Dr. Jatau assured that the House would ensure the expeditious passage of the supplementary appropriation bill.
It would be recalled that on November 29, 2024, Governor Sule presented the N382.57 billion Appropriation Bill for the 2025 fiscal year to the Assembly, titled “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability.”Of this, N159.97 billion (41.82%) was allocated to recurrent expenditure, while N222.60 billion (58.18%) was for capital expenditure.
The governor later signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill of N384.3 billion into law on December 31, 2024, which was about N2 billion above the estimate submitted earlier to the legislature.
