The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed that 10 people lost their lives while 11 others sustained various injuries in a fatal crash that occurred on Friday night, October 10, 2025, along the Lokoja–Obajana road, specifically at Apamaru.

According to preliminary investigations by the FRSC crash investigation team, the accident was caused by excessive speeding and wrongful overtaking, which led the driver to lose control of the vehicle during a night journey.

Reacting to the tragedy, the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and cautioned motorists against night travels, overspeeding, and dangerous overtaking — factors he described as persistent causes of fatal crashes on Nigerian roads.

Mohammed also urged passengers to remain vigilant and to speak up or report drivers who engage in reckless driving. He assured that the Corps will intensify enforcement against overloading and step up advocacy campaigns to discourage night journeys across major routes in the country.
