The Kano State Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested three suspects linked to an interstate car theft syndicate in a coordinated operation spanning Kano and Jigawa states.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed that the breakthrough followed a report lodged on 17 April 2026 by a resident of Danbare Quarters in Gwale Local Government Area, whose unregistered blue Pontiac Vibe was stolen from her residence at about 3:00 a.m.
Acting on the complaint, operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) launched an intelligence-led operation which led to the recovery of the vehicle at an uncompleted building in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of three suspects identified as Shuaibu Abdullahi, 37, from Gombe State; Shuaibu Zakariya, 24, from Bauchi State; and Abdurahman Ibrahim, 35, from Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Police authorities said the suspects are currently in custody and have provided useful information, adding that they will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
Commending the operatives, CP Bakori praised the professionalism and swift response of the SIS team, noting that the operation reflects the Command’s commitment to tackling complex crimes in line with the vision of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
He assured residents of the Command’s continued efforts to safeguard lives and property, urging the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information.
The Commissioner also advised residents to adopt preventive measures, including the use of steering locks, secure parking and prompt reporting of suspicious activities.
The Command warned criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities, reiterating its resolve to deploy all necessary resources to combat crime and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
