A security guard at a primary health clinic in Oke-Ijebu area of Akure, Ondo State capital, has narrated how armed men carried out a late-night attack on the facility.

The guard, Olawale Yaya, said the assailants stormed the clinic and assaulted three health workers who were on duty at the time.

According to him, the attackers also made away with mobile phones and other personal belongings belonging to the victims.

He added that the gunmen arrived in a high-end vehicle, which they parked outside the premises before launching the attack. He further disclosed that a vehicle within the clinic compound was vandalised, with its brain box removed.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, have rescued five abducted persons in separate overnight operations in Akure South Local Government Area.

The Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son were abducted at Pelebe, along Oda-Akure Road, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.

He disclosed that the victims were rescued around 1:00 a.m. by the Rapid Response Squad of the Amotekun Corps after a confrontation with the kidnappers.

Adeleye further revealed that three health workers earlier abducted from the primary health clinic were also freed at about 4:30 a.m. and are currently receiving treatment at an Amotekun medical facility.

The development highlights ongoing security concerns in parts of Ondo State, even as local security outfits intensify efforts to combat criminal activities.
