The All Progressives Congress (APC) has re-elected Dr. Isaacs Kekemeke as its South-West Zonal Chairman during a congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
The election, conducted on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, was decided by consensus through a voice vote, with seven other zonal executives also returned.
The congress attracted 3,188 delegates from the six South-West states — Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Oyo — and featured strong commitments from party leaders to deliver a decisive electoral victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Other officials elected alongside Kekemeke include Alfred Aluko (Secretary), Ismail Majaro (Legal Adviser), Lateef Ibirogba (Organising Secretary), Ayobami Afolabi (Publicity Secretary), Mrs. Yetunde Adesanya (Woman Leader), Barr. Daramola Adesuyi (Youth Leader), and Dayo Ishola (Representative for Persons Living with Disabilities).
Prominent APC figures present at the event included Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, Biodun Oyebanji, and Lucky Aiyedatiwa, alongside Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Osun governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, and former Ogun State Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
In his acceptance speech, Kekemeke expressed confidence in the party’s dominance in the region, assuring that the new leadership would work to secure victories in upcoming governorship elections in Osun, Ekiti, and Oyo states.
Speaking on behalf of South-West APC governors, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the peaceful conduct of the congress, describing it as a reflection of unity and political maturity in the zone.
“Today, we have seen the conduct of a free and fair election, following the provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act. This congress shows that the South-West is united and a formidable political bloc,” he said.
Chairman of the Zonal Congress Committee, Jide Jimoh, affirmed that the exercise complied fully with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026, highlighting the region’s long-standing tradition of progressive politics.
Also speaking, APC National Secretary, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, represented by National Youth Leader Dr. Dayo Israel, congratulated the newly elected executives and urged them to work collectively to ensure electoral success for the party in 2027.
Statutory delegates at the congress included zonal leaders, former officeholders, governors, members of the National Assembly, state party executives, and other national convention delegates.
