Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep sorrow over the attack on worshippers at a mosque in Borno State, describing the incident as a brutal assault on innocent citizens.

Governor Radda condemned the attack as “a cruel, senseless, and condemnable assault on innocent citizens engaged in worship, and on the sanctity of places of prayer.”

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the governor said the incident claimed several lives and left others injured, plunging families and communities into mourning.

According to Radda, “every life lost in this heartbreaking incident represents a home in grief and a community traumatised.”

He stressed that mosques, churches, and all places of worship must remain sanctuaries of peace, reflection, and devotion, and should never be targets of violence.

The governor described the attack as painful and unacceptable, noting that it underscores the urgent need for sustained national resolve in combating terrorism and violent extremism in all its forms.

Radda called on security agencies to intensify ongoing operations to protect citizens and prevent further attacks, urging them to “strengthen collaboration, deepen intelligence gathering, and ensure that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.”

He further appealed to Nigerians to remain united, vigilant, and supportive of security efforts, emphasising that national solidarity is critical in confronting forces that seek to spread fear and division across the country.

Reaffirming the collective stance of Northern governors, Radda said they would continue to work closely with the Federal Government to strengthen the nation’s security architecture and safeguard lives and property across the region.

The Katsina governor extended condolences to Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, the government and people of the state, as well as the families of those killed and others injured in the attack.

He also prayed that Almighty Allah grant eternal rest to the departed, comfort the bereaved families, and grant speedy recovery to those receiving medical treatment.
