The Sokoto State Police Command has announced the death of its Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Kabir Abdu.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the Command said the senior police officer passed away after a prolonged illness. He was admitted to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, on December 12, 2025, where he remained under medical care until his death.

The Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Ahmed Musa, psc, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the late officer as a disciplined, dedicated, and selfless professional whose service greatly contributed to the security and stability of Sokoto State.

CP Musa, on behalf of officers and men of the Command, extended heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, praying that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus and gives his family the strength to bear the loss.

The Nigeria Police Force said it will continue to honour the invaluable contributions of DCP Kabir Abdu to policing, peace, and public safety.
