Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has directed all categories of public servants in the state to stay away from work on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, to enable them collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The directive was announced in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
According to the statement, the work-free day applies to all categories of public servants, including local government employees and staff of state-owned tertiary institutions.
The governor said the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, has issued a circular notifying workers of the directive.
Adeleke explained that the work-free day is intended to enable public servants fulfil their civic responsibility ahead of the August 15 governorship election and future elections in the state.
The circular, however, advised workers on essential duties, including medical personnel and security operatives, to make internal arrangements to ensure that critical services are not disrupted.
The governor also urged public servants and workers in the informal sector who are yet to collect their PVCs to do so without delay, stressing the importance of participating in the electoral process.
“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voter’s card is your licence to the ballot paper and, by extension, to the ballot box,” Adeleke said.
