Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced a major financial incentive for the Super Eagles following their impressive 2–0 victory over Algeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which secured Nigeria’s place in the semi-finals.
In a statement shared on his Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) accounts shortly after the match, Rabiu congratulated the players for what he described as a performance that “lifted the spirit of the nation.”
He pledged a cash reward of $500,000 to the team if they defeat hosts Morocco in the semi-final, with an additional $50,000 bonus for every goal scored in the match.
Rabiu further promised $1 million should Nigeria go on to win the final, alongside an extra $100,000 per goal in the championship game.
Nigeria’s victory over Algeria has been widely praised as one of their most convincing displays of the tournament. Showing tactical discipline, high intensity and attacking confidence, the Super Eagles subdued a traditionally strong North African side to keep their title hopes alive.
The result extended Nigeria’s strong run at the Morocco-hosted tournament and strengthened belief that the team has the quality and depth to challenge for the continental crown.
Rabiu said the incentives were meant to motivate the squad as they prepare for the crucial matches ahead, urging the players to continue making the nation proud in their pursuit of AFCON glory.
As the Super Eagles look toward the semi-finals, growing public support, strong performances on the pitch and backing from the private sector have raised expectations at home, with Nigeria’s quest for continental success now entering a decisive stage.
